Christmas, Twenty-eleven

I am so tired that I can't think of anything wacky or original to do for our Christmas letter so I gave each of our kids a chance to write something and this was what they wrote. (Click on the red words to see photos.)

Kray: Mom, I'm studying for finals. You know life is really rough here at BYU-Hawaii.  This marketing program has me hitting the books really hard and I'm working too.  Oh, and remember you told me to visit the beach at least once a week, so I better get down to the beach and work on my tan.  See ya in a few!

Jason: What, me write? No way. I just do math and science!  And besides I have to go to work. Those cars at Toyota of Kirkland just don't wash themselves now do they.  Oh, and I also have to finish my college applications.

Mike: Sorry, mom but I have to go right now. I'm off to so-and-so's house in a bit but first I need to finish reading this book again and do a workout.

Matt: Mom, I don't write. You know that. I solve puzzles! Anyway, I had to write all that stuff for my Eagle papers and that was quite enough writing to last until at least January 2015. And besides I'm so tired. I get up every morning at 5 to go to my favorite class of the day: seminary.

Chris: I can't do that mom. You know I hate writing more than Matt! And besides I'm sure there is some invading force in some video game that needs to be vanquished. Was that my soccer ball that just called my name?

Jessie: I'd love to mom, but I have some more drawings to finish. I need to build up my portfolio and I'm sure one of my friends will be calling soon.

Steve: Dear, I'd love to edit what you write. I'm busy with work and my next game.

I even tried the dogs.

Alex: Sorry, I wrote it last year.

Roxy: I haven't even been here for the whole year. I'd leave out things like going to Disney World.  And typing is really hard without thumbs. AllthewordswouldbesmooshedtogetherbecauseIcouldn'thitthespacebar.

So it has been left up to me and I'm just doing give you the top ten things that happened to our family this year (or at least that I want you to know).

1. Everyone celebrated a birthday! Steve: getting older, Doreen: 42 never felt so young, Kray: 20, Jason: 18, Mike: 16, Matt: 14, Chris: 12 and Jessie: 11.

2. We added a new member to our family: Roxy, another Yorkie.

3. Kray graduated from Bellevue College with his AA and is now at BYU-Hawaii studying Marketing and enjoying life in the tropics!

4. Jason is a senior in high school doing his sophomore work at Bellevue College and is excelling in math and sciences.

5. Mike turned 16, is now the tallest in the family (even taller than dad) and has become a social animal!

6. Matt earned his Eagle and may be the shortest in the family.

7. Chris received the Priesthood and loves soccer.

8. Jessie ran a race with Doreen and is growing up to be an accomplished artist and a beautiful young lady.

9. Steve released Coach's Clock for the iPhone which helped Doreen manage her players' time for the five soccer teams she coached this year (Matt, Chris and Jessie during the spring and Chris & Jessie  in fall). .

10. Doreen is 16 month in remission, ran two marathons (Vancouver and Seattle), raised a lot of money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through TNT (over $100,000 in three years) and was the honored speaker at both marathons.

We wish each of you a Merry Christmas and may the Lord bless you and yours this year.

Steve, Doreen, Kray, Jason, Mike, Matt, Chris & Jessie

Oh, and Alex & Roxy too.
